Already in the first years of life, children playfully develop mathematical skills, e.g. B. safe counting and the beginning understanding of quantities and quantity breakdowns. Not every child grows up in an environment that consistently encourages preschool learning of basic math skills. “A scientific study from 2011 shows that every fifth child of primary school age lacks basic mathematical knowledge. These children are often unable to follow lessons in the first grades of elementary school and sometimes develop math problems later on. PReSch identifies and supports children with a lack of basic mathematical knowledge in the transition from daycare to primary school and works before arithmetic weaknesses occur."
