short profile
Short profile of the rainbow school
- The district of Gütersloh is responsible for the school.
- The school is a special needs school in the primary area and includes - just like in the elementary school - the years 1-2 (school entry phase = SEP) and the years 3-4. Children have the opportunity to complete the teaching goals of the school entry phase in 1, 2 or 3 years.
- We teach according to the primary school curriculum and work on the basis of the language guidelines of the special needs school.
- The Rainbow School is a through school. Our goal is to encourage the children from the start of school in our school in such a way that they can return to the local elementary school at an early stage.
- In the school entry phase, we teach in cross-year classes (JÜ classes).
- A total of 210 pupils are taught in 12 classes in the rainbow school, 8 of which belong to the school entry phase (SEP), 4 classes form grades 3 and 4.
- Up to 17 students learn in a class.
- At our school, colleagues work with subject-specific training in the language support area, as well as in the fields of emotional and social development, listening, communication and learning.
- We are an open all-day school and offer an OGS place for 90 children. The AWO-Gütersloh is the sponsor of the OGS.
- Two school social workers complement our school team.
- The students are transported with the special school transport.
