ReEL parent training

ReEL: Practicing math – but how????

Some children have difficulty learning arithmetic and need parental support at home.

The school counseling centers in the districts of Bielefeld, Gütersloh and Herford have the project Reel (Arithmetic support for children with arithmetic weaknesses with parents and teachers). This is a parent-child training. The goals of the training are to build up basic mathematical skills, learn suitable calculation strategies and consolidate what you have learned through regular home exercises.

At our school we offer the training for parents with children in the 2nd and 3rd year of school attendance. The parents come to school with their child on 8 afternoons (approx. every 4 weeks). There, exercises are learned in a small group and practiced together with the child under supervision. These exercises should then be carried out with the child at home to help them learn arithmetic and to overcome the difficulties.
